Description:  
4-H Program
4-H helps young people become creative and productive citizens, develop positive leisure time activities, foster positive self-esteem, build leadership potential, become involved in communities, explore interests and try new skills.  There are 28 groups available in Belknap County.

Eligibility
Youth 5-7=Cloverbuds
Youth 8-18=4-H Members

Cost
No cost to families.  Special events may have a charge, but partial scholarships are available from the Belknap County 4-H Foundation.


4-H Time in Afterschool Programs
These programs provide safe learning environments for youth during the after school hours.  4-H provides curricula, training, support, recognition, local/state/national opportunities, and opportunities to build relationships for youth/youth and youth/adult voluneteers based on like interest. 

Eligibility
Youth 5-18 years old.

Cost
No charge for 4-H afterschool.  Community / School provides space and staff to meet state guidelines.  4-H provides programming support.


Nutrition Connections
Works with families and youth, teaching nutrition, food safety, and budgeting.

Description:  
The Boys and Girls Club of Lakes Region provides an after-school drop-in program to keep teens off the street while providing them with constructive outlets and positive role models. 
They also have a summer day camp with arts and crafts, activities, sports, and weekly field trips, AND a school vacation program, which is a continuation of the drop-in program that  provides teens with something to do during school-year vacations.

Programs include:

Out of School Suspension Program
To serve as an accountability and prevention program for suspended students.  It is an opportunity to make up outstanding work, keep up with current assignments and participate in community service during the school day.

Upswing
To provide youth and their families with an avenue for resolving problems that they may be having before the situation reaches the state where court involvement becomes necessary through a CHINS petition.

Juvenile Court Diversion
Court Diversion is an early-intervention program that works with first time juvenile offenders.  The program allows the juvenile to take responsibility and learn from their mistakes without going to court and potentially having a juvenile record.

Belknap County Teen Court
Teen Court is a program in which youth are sentenced by their peers.  It is a voluntary alternative to the criminal justice system for young people who have committed an offense.  Teen Court promotes responsible citizenship on the part of the  defendant and the volunteers.

The Challenge Course
Challenge is an educational, community based early intervenion alcohol and other drug abuse program.  The program serves as an early intervention for those youth who are at risk and intends to prevent the progression of substance use / abuse.

Belknap County Family Mediation Program
Mediation is a process that provides families with an opportunity to address issues that are contributing to conflict in the home.  Mediators are neutral facilitators who help families reach solutions to their conflicts.

Prime for Life
A program designed to gently but powerfully challenge common beliefs and attitudes that directly contribute to high-risk alcohol and drug use.  The content, process, and sequence of Prime for Life are carefully developed to achieve both prevention and intervention goals.

Description:  

The Pemi Youth Center is a local not-for-profit organization serving as a safe and well supervised after school destination for local youth ages 11-17.  The center provides quality after school programming with activities including academic assistance, mentoring, nutritional guidance/cooking instruction, art and recreation activities, support groups, and community service learning opportunities. 
 
All programming and services are offered at no cost to youth/families.
 
Giggles and Grins North Playgroup also offered at the Pemi Youth Center.

Challenge
This is an early intervention drug and alcohol program for youth between the ages of 13-18.  it is targeted for teenagers who are beginning an involvement with illegal substances.

Violence Prevention
To teach youth to express anger and overly aggressive feelings in constructive ways.

Services provided by this agency:  Mentoring, Youth Leadership & Development

Description:  
The AMTP provides multi-level support to over-stressed and underserved adolescents whose life circumstances place them at risk for mental illness, delinquency, and out-of-home placement. AMTP offers long-term support to youth (12-18 year old) and families as they face critical life and developmental transition. It works to strengthen family and youth assets such as physical and emotional health, future orientation, community connections, and self-esteem.

Eligibility
Youth 12 to 18 years old who 1) reside in Belknap or southern Carroll counties, 2) are not at risk of harming others, 3) are referred by school personnel, community officials, parents, or other individuals familiar with AMTP.

Cost
Each youth is supported by grants and scholarships.
