Born Learning and 5210 Healthy NH viewed on Lakes Region Public Access

Good News Travels Fast with host Judi Taggart will be airing Born Learning and "5210 Health NH"

The early years during a child's growth and development is a time when the child is experiencing and learning from everything they see and hear and do.

The first segment we will speak with Deb Rosato, Community Partners for Children from Lakes Region Community Services. Learn from Deb about the local Born Learning initiative, the public awareness campaign with news that helps parents, family and neighbors to create early learning opportunities for young children. Children are born learning, together we shape their learning. The second segment we will speak to Carolyn Muller, Community Educator from LRGH. Learn about the "5210 Healthy NH" with information on how these four numbers can help you raise healthy children... right from the start!

Rick Charette Concert and Interactive Exhibits!

Rick experienced a wonderful audience of families, children young and old.. " I still have lots of dancing and singing kids in my head! there was definitely lots of high energy in the room."

Families of the Lakes Region joined together with an event of teachable moment booths and singer songwriter Rick Charette Friday evening April 4th.

The Teachable Moment Booths included activities for children and families that focus on each area of development. "Sink and Float", "Paint with me". "Ribbon Dancing", "Babylap and Read to Me", "Wash your hands", Parachute Play! and Tea Time. Born Learning materials that include ideas to encourage the activities at home were available at each booth.

As a singer and songwriter, Rick Charette captured the hearts and spirits of young and old alike with his delightful and inspiring children's songs. His performance blended original contemporary pop music and lyrics with imaginative activities that generate all kinds of audience participation.

Thank you to the volunteers from Lakes Region Community Services, Lakes Region Community College, Huot Child Development Center, Laconia High School, and University of New Hampshire.

Ticket prices for this year's show are $5 per person, under age 3 is free and what a great way to invest time and money on having fun with your family.

Thank you to The Sundial Shop in downtown Laconia, the Gilford Public Library, the Alton Public Library, the Meredith Public Library and at the LRCS Main Office in Laconia for the avanced ticket sales. Tickets were also available at the event door the evening of the concert.

Born Learning in the Lakes Region

Children are born learning.

 Born Learning

We are networking and collaborating with community service professionals, child care providers, school staff, business leaders, and families with young children. Born Learning Centers or display racks with a sign above and a poster next to it will have a presence in the community. The Center will include printed materials for parents, family and friends of young children to pick up and read.

TV and radio ads for Born Learning are now appearing during April and May 2008.

Contact Deb Rosato at debr@lrcsc.org to become involved in early learning in the Lakes Region.
