Be alert to your child's cue to when he/she is sleepy. When you child is drowsy, put him/her to bed. Establish the bedtime routine around the same time each night.

Tip: Make eye contact by allowing him to see your facial expressions. Hold him close by carrying him close, sitting him on your lap and hugging him. Provide gentle motion by rocking him in your arms, bouncing him on your lap and gently tickling him. These things provide the touch and smell that is needed for a healthy relationship.

Tip: During your pregnancy, bond with your child by rubbing your belly and talking calmly and lovingly. Give your child at least three hugs per day from birth through her high school years and beyond.
